EAJC Vice-Presidents Congratulate Jews on Purim Holiday.

                  14.03.2003

Dear Jews! We congratulate you on Purim Holiday!
It is a lot of centuries ago the Jewish people defeated forces of evil. Righteous persons Mordekhai and Esther convinced Persian Tsar Ahashverosh to recant the idea of genocide of the Jews living on precepts of peace and consent. The anti-Semites led by spiteful Hamman were plunged into ashes.
It was then that our people confirmed their adherence to the paramount principle, by which they should ever abide. It is the principle of unity of the Jewish people. Each Jew has the right to share joy with the fellow tribesmen, and has no right to renounce them in the moments of sufferings. Only feeling themselves a uniform nation, can our people preserve their history, traditions and culture.
Time and distance separate the Jews in various places of the planet from each other. But no barriers can preclude spiritual unity of the people. In order to more profoundly feel our communality and to support each other on huge spaces from New Zealand up to Moldova, we have created the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (ЕАJC), which has united the Jews of the three continents.
Within the framework of the Congress, communication between the Jewish organizations in the republics of the former USSR have been restored, and now all the Jews of the CIS have recovered a common home. With the help of the ЕАJC, recognized as the Continental Branch of the World Jewish Congress, processes of integration of our communities from the countries of Asia-Pacific into the international Jewish community have amplified.
The Purim Holiday reminds us of one more important circumstance. In those legendary times, the Most High decided not to interfere directly with human affairs and gave the Jews the opportunity of coping independently with the fatal threat. Today we understand, that alone it is impossible to work out. The whole world altogether ought to resist to evil, violence and terror.
Let the present Purim once again remind the people of the principles of unity, peace and consent without which it is impossible to survive today.
