The EAJC President has supported charitable program for soldiers.

                  12.12.2002

The EAJC President rendered assistance to Israeli soldiers born in the CIS. This information became known during Shirutrom – the annual program of gathering money for soldiers of the Army of Defense of Israel, dated to the Jewish Khanuka holiday.
Shirutrom turned to be the real holiday that was carried out under the slogan "A day to say thanks". During the day performance of the best creative ensembles took place at the stage of Jerusalem Palace of Nations. The concert has been transmitted directly to the first TV channel, to the second Israeli broadcast and the central army radio station "Galey Cahal".
The voices of the soldiers serving in various parts of Israel have sounded in the air. Famous actors, musicians, writers and politics have visited radio and TV stations.
The Jews from Diaspora also joined the action of gathering donations for needs of soldiers. Alexander Mashkevich, The EAJC President, has made one of the great contributions. Despite substantial difference in time zones between Israel and Kazakhstan (it was 12 p.m. in Astana, where the EAJC President`s residence is) Alexander Mashkevich found time to address to Tele-viewers on the air.
The EAJC President wished them prompt peace and prosperity and also expressed hope for soon release of Israeli war prisoners, which is the target objective of EAJC. To conclude his speech Alexander Mashkevich has greeted all Israelis with the Jewish Khanuka holiday.
Success of this Shirutrom will directly affect the life of all military men of CAHAL among whom there is the great number of natives of the former USSR. All the gathered money will be spent on educational and religious programs. Organizers plan to allocate the significant part of these means for providing habitation single-soldiers, repatriates from the CIS having no families in Israel.
