                  02.12.2002

An exhibition of Jewish painters was held last week in Saint Petersburg. It was organized under the aegis of "Sokhnut" Jewish Agency.
The exhibition turned out to be a logical continuation of the seminar-planner called "Roads, Palaces, Cities: Space in the Jewish Art and in the Jewish Classical Texts" organized by the Jewish Agency, Euro-Asian Jewish Congress an other respected organizations and held from Aug 28 to Sep 11, 2002 in Kiev and the Regions of Ukraine historically linked to Jewish spiritual culture and art.
Several lections and master-classes on Jewish art, as well as a book exhibition on Jewish art and Judaism were held during the event.
This exhibition is yet another step taken by the Jewish agency to introduce the Newly Independent States' Jewish art people to Jewish and Israeli art.
"Sokhnut" is working on a series of workshops designed to provide painters with the knowledge and skill in the field of Jewish art.
This exhibition was held in Kiev in November. It will be shown to the Israelis in Jerusalem's House of President in at the end of December. The grand opening is on Dec 24.
