Jewish Summer Camps a Resounding Success in Moscow
09.08.2017, Anti-Semitism Hundreds of Jewish children attend this summer, seven different FJC ‘Gan Israel’ summer camps throughout Moscow. For many, their only opportunity to receive a Jewish experience.
Another successful year has been marked in Moscow’s camps, where hundreds of Jewish children are given a taste of Jewish heritage and tradition during the summer months, while they are officially on summer break from school.
The various camps took place at the various Jewish educational campuses scattered around Moscow, established by Chief Rabbi of Russia, Berel Lazar, and were run by a dedicated group of counselors.
These summer programs are mostly geared for students who attend non-Jewish schools during the year, and this is a rare opportunity to experience authentic Judaism. The staff and counselors use every moment to give the children a positive and loving taste of the Torah.
The staff and counselors used every moment to give the children a positive and loving taste of the Judaism. The fruits of their labor of love, were evident at the end of camp when many of the kids made life-altering decisions to choose a Jewish name, attend a Jewish school, or other Jewish customs.
FJC’s network of Jewish summer across the Former Soviet Union is supported by the Finger and Leviev Foundations, the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews headed by Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein and additional donors and partners from across the globe.
