Israeli passengers on an Air Serbia flight from Belgrade International Airport to Tel Aviv refused to board the plane when they heard through the gate announcement that the flight was going to ‘’Palestine’’.

Several Israeli passengers refused to board an Air Serbia flight from Belgrade to Tel Aviv after it was announced the plane was headed to “Palestine.”

According to Ynet news, the incident created uproar at the airport, with Israeli passengers refusing to get on the plane until the correct announcement was made.

An airline representative explained to passengers that "the flight is to Tel Aviv, not to Israel."

"I told her that the flight was also not to 'Palestine' and requested they announce that the flight was going to Israel or even Tel Aviv. We told them they need to announce it three times, and told them that we would refuse to board the plane otherwise," one of the Israeli passengers was quoted as saying.

"After the staff discussed the matter amongst themselves in Serbian, they indeed announced that the flight was going to Tel Aviv three times. The manager of the desk personally took us to the gate and apologized to us several times."

An Israeli passenger issued a complaint to the Israeli Embassy in Serbia after the incident.

Air Serbia’s CEO expressed shock at the incident and called it completely unacceptable in a conversation with Israel’s ambassador to Serbia.

An investigation later found it was an airport employee, not an Air Serbia employee, who made the announcement
