Anti-Israel activists vandalize signs announcing 'Open a Door to Israel' exhibit in Paris
05.04.2016, Anti-Semitism Activists from the anti-Israel BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) movement vandalized and tore up signs on the Paris subway announcing an exhibit about Israel at the Carroussel du Louvre in the French capital.
The ‘’Open a Door to Israel” exhibit, which runs until April 10, is a joint project of the Israeli ministry of foreign affairs and the Ministry for strategic affairs and public diplomacy. The exhibit was already presented with great success in Rome and Warsaw.
The multisensory installation features Israel's innovation, hi-tech and its rich history and culture. It is composed of nine doors, each in a different color and design, all opening into huge interactive screens.
“This exhibit is the fruit of two and a half years of work,’’ explained Joel Lion, director of the Foreign Ministry’s public and academic affairs department.
“The idea was to bring Israel, to bring Israelis to the world, for people to view the Israeli experience. When the idea first came up, we defined nine values; nine characteristics of Israeli society, and each of these elements became a door to be opened.”
The advertising campaign in Paris includes more than 300 points around the city’s metro.
The embassy began preparations for the possibility of vandalism in advance: the contract with the advertising company determined that any vandalized billboard would be immediately put up again, and so it was. The Israeli Embassy said, "Our message to the BDS groups is that they will not shut our mouths.”
Diplomats, French officials, actors, artists and leaders of the Jewish community gathered at Le Louvre for the launching of the exhibit.
