French Minister in Israel to learn from Israel's experience in dealing with terror attacks
"I came to Israel to strengthen cooperation between our two countries because today we have more than ever things to learn from Israel’s experience’’," said the minister French health Marisol Touraine who is on a 3-day visit in Israel.
During her visit, she visited Tel Aviv’s Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv which is specialized in the management of emergency and the management of crisis situations. There, she met with Israeli health care professionals to learn from Israel's experience in dealing with terrorist attacks.
The French minister met with her Israeli counterpart Yakov Litzman.
She recounted the “dramatic terror attack at the end of last year” in France and said her country needed to “think about the best way to prepare our hospitals in case of new attacks.”
Touraine added that there would be cooperation between the two countries “to learn from the Israeli experience.”
The minister also visited the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem, the Weizmann Institute in Rehovot.
The visit aims to promote the cooperation of French and Israeli health systems to improve access to care and foster innovation in the medical field.
At a reception in her honor at the residence of the Ambassador of France in Israel Patrick Maisonnave, the Touraine met with representatives of the French community in Israel to which she stated that '' Israel is a special country, a country that provokes passions, torment and questions but also of emotion and respect.’’
