According to Jewish weekly in Antwerp Joods Actueel, a telephone operator at a crisis center of the Belgian Interior Ministry responded that ‘’Israel doesn’t exist, it’s Palestine,’’ when asked about Israeli victims of last week’s deadly bomb attack at Brussels Airport.

"It's Palestine, sir," the operator, who identified himself as Zakharia, told a Jewish volunteer from Antwerp’s coordination center who had phoned the crisis center about two Israelis wounded in the bombing who need to be repatriated.

Israeli authorities are making plans to repatriate two of their citizens with a special flight, Joods Actueel reported. But before those people can be released from hospital they need a certificate from the Belgian authorities.

On the phone, the operator invariably mentioned ‘’Palestine’’ instead of Israel. When the volunteer asked him if he doesn’t know Israel, he replied that he was only informed about ‘’Jews who came to Palestine and occupied the land.’’

The volunteer, who was shocked by the answer, recorded the conversation.

31 people were killed and 300 wounded in the terror attacks at the airport and at a metro station.
