Hundreds of supporters of Israel to demonstrate in Geneva against ‘’hypocrisy and bias’ of United Nations Human Rights Council
02.03.2016, Israel and the World Hundreds of supporters of Israel from across Europe are expected to come together in Geneva on 21 March to denounce the ‘’hypocrisy’’ of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and its bias against Israel.
They will stage a protest demonstration outside the Palais des Nations, the European UN headquaerters, where the UNHRC will be sitting to discuss a series of anti-Israel resolutions.
Since its creation, 10 years ago, the UN body has written more resolutions against Israel than the rest of the world combined, ‘’a fact which points to the failure of the Council to fulfil its role in an objective and effective manner,’’ the pro-Israel organisations said.
These organisations include the Israel Allies Foundation, StandWithUs, the Swiss-Israel Friendship Association, the European Union of Jewish Students, the World Union of Jewish Students and the World Zionist Organization.
Member of the Knesset Yair Lapid will be the keynote speaker at the demonstration.
He will be joined by European parliamentarians and witnesses from Israel who will share their personal stories.
The demonstration was initiated by a coalition of pro-Israel organizations who want to raise their voices heard in response to the ongoing hypocrisy of the United Nations Human Rights Council and the disproportionate, unjust focus on Israel. The coalition includes the Israel Allies Foundation, StandWithUs, Swiss-Israel Friendship Association, European Union of Jewish Students, World Union of Jewish Students, World Zionist Organization, and others.
