During a rally in Houston, Texas, ahead of Super Tuesday, Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio hit at the GOP frontrunner Donald Trump for his statements on Israel.

"The frontrunner in this race, Donald Trump, has said he's not going to take sides on Israel versus the Palestinians because he wants to be an honest broker," the Florida Senator said. "Well, there is no such thing as an honest broker in that. Because the Palestinian Authority, which has strong links to terror, they teach little kids that it's a glorious thing to kill Jews."

At a recent MSNBC debate in Charleston, South Carolina, Trump said that as president, he would remain "neutral" between Israelis and Palestinians in order to get the best possible deal on Middle East peace.

“If I win, I don’t want to be in a position where I’m saying to you [my choice] and the other side now says, ‘We don’t want Trump involved,'" he said. “Let me be sort of a neutral guy."

Asked during a GOP debate in Houston by CNN’s Wolf Blitzer how he could remain ‘’neutral’’ when the US considers Israel to be American’s best friend, Trump responded : ‘’Well, first of all, I don’t think they do under President Obama because I think he’s treated Israel horribly, all right? I think he’s treated Israel horribly.’’

‘’I was the grand marshall down 5th Avenue a number of years ago for the Israeli Day Parade, I have very close ties to Israel. I’ve received the Tree of Life Award and many of the greatest awards given by Israel,’’ he said.

‘’As president, however, there’s nothing that I would rather do to bring peace to Israel and its neighbors generally. And I think it serves no purpose to say that you have a good guy and a bad guy.’’

‘’But it doesn’t help if I start saying I am very pro-Israel, very pro, more than anybody on this stage. It doesn’t do any good to start demeaning the neighbors, because I would love to do something with regard to negotiating peace, finally, for Israel and for their neighbors.’’

‘’And I can’t do that as well — as a negotiator, I cannot do that as well if I’m taking big, big sides. With that being said, I am totally pro-Israel.’’

Marco Rubio responded by saying that Trump’s position was ‘’anti-Israel.’’

‘’Because you cannot be an honest broker in a dispute between two sides in which one of the sides is constantly acting in bad faith. The Palestinian Authority has walked away from multiple efforts to make peace, very generous offers from the Israels. Instead, here’s what the Palestinians do. They teach their four- year-old children that killing Jews is a glorious thing. Here’s what Hamas does. They launch rockets and terrorist attacks again Israel on an ongoing basis. The bottom line is, a deal between Israel and the Palestinians, given the current makeup of the Palestinians, is not possible.’’

Rubio stressed that the next US president ‘’needs to be someone like me who will stand firmly on the side of Israel.’’ ‘’I will be on a side. I will be on Israel’s side every single day because they are the only pro-American, free enterprise democracy in the entire Middle East,’’ the Senator said.

Asked later by daily srael Hayom about his support for Israel, Trump replied: "My friendship with Israel is stronger than any other candidate. Don't get confused there in Israel: I am currently your biggest friend. My daughter is married to a Jew who is an enthusiastic Israel supporter, and I have taken part in many Israel Day parades. My friendship with Israel is very strong."

''If I make it to the White House, you will have a true friend there," he added.
