An Israeli minister warned that sooner or later terrorists will try to use biological or chemical weapons.

‘’We know that there is such a threat to use chemical weapons and this can cause many fatalities,’’ Yuval Steinitz, Minister of National Infrastructure, Energy and Water Resources told a group of European journalists visiting Israel as part of a tour organised by the European Israel Press Association (EIPA).

‘’Isis and similar organisations such as Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, Hamas and others will not hesitate if they can kill thousands of people,’’ he said.

Referring to the recent terror attacks in Paris, the minister stressed that ''Islamic incitement'' is the main engine of terrorism, whether it is against Israel, the Europeans or against democracy. ‘’If you don’t eradicate this incitement, you will get similar results.’’

‘’Terrorism is terrorism whether the victims are Jews in Israel or Europeans in Paris, Yazidis in Iraq or Kurds in Iraq and Syria,’’ he said.

Asked whether Israel can contribute to the security of Europe, he mentioned that his country has developed unique and very good intelligence tools that unable it to understand what is going in its territory, including in the West Bank and Gaza. ‘’In the case of organized terror attacks, in many circumnstances we have managed to intercept the attackers before they act,’’ said Seinitz, who was Intelligence Minister under the former Netanyahu government.

‘’In order to do that you need to develop systems and technologies to oversee your own territory and population while making sure that you are not abusing the right to privacy,’’ he added.
