Jewish groups to stage demonstration on the eve of Iran President Rouhani's visit to France
On the eve of the upcoming three-day state visit of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in France, several Jewish organisations will stage a demonstration in Paris to express their opposition to the Iranian nuclear deal and to the threat posed by Iran to Israel.
The demonstration will be held on November 15 at the Trocadero in Paris.
"This event is not waged against the Iranian people," said the Union of French Jewish Employers (UPJF), which intitiated the demonstration along with other groups, told The Times of Israel. "Instead, we want to support the human rights of the Iranian people," it said.
The Iranian president has been invited to Paris by French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius in July when he traveled to Tehran following the announcement of the nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers, including France, in Lausanne.
French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said in September that French President François Hollande will host Rouhani "because after the conclusion of an agreement on its nuclear program, Tehran must weigh in positively in favor of a political solution" in Syria.
