A Jewish family was violently aggressed and robbed in their home near Paris by men described as being of African origin, the National Bureau of Vigilance Against Anti-Semitism (BNVCA) reported.

The son and parents were hospitalized. The son is said to be severely injured.

According to BNVCA, a body which monitors anti-Semitic incidents in France, three masked men broke into the family’s home in Blanc-Mesnil, north-east of Paris. They then held the parents and son captive while they searched the home.

BNCVA was informed that the aggressors told the family that they chose to break into the apartment "because they are Jewish and Jews have money."

The men took about 2,500 Euro ($2,700 US), a key to the family's Mercedes, and keys to the family's jewelry shop in Paris.

The BNVCA noted that "This attack resembles the recent assault in Créteil. The stereotype of 'Jews and money' remains in the public mentality. The BNVCA fears that the scourge of anti-Semitism is growing rapidly."

"While the state has taken steps to protect buildings, synagogues, community centers, Jewish schools and--now with the 'Vigipirate' plan--posts soldiers in front of all these establishments, we find that the targets of anti-Jewish attacks are more often Jewish children wearing a kippah in the street, Jewish businesspeople, their customers, and now Jewish families in their own homes."

According to figures released last week by the Ministry of Interior and the Protection Service for the Jewish Community (SPCJ), the number of anti-Semitic acts (violent actions and threats) increased by 84% during the first six months of this year compared to the same period of 2014 and 161% over that of 2013
