Ukraine and Israel discuss creation of free trade zone

                  11.06.2015, Israel and the World

Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin and the honorary consul of the State of Israel in the western region of Ukraine Oleg Vishnyakov discussed the issue of creating a free trade zone between the two nations. The politicians agreed on the need to advance the process of creating an FTZ between the countries.

According to Oleg Vishnyakov, an FZT will not only significantly increase trade turnover between the countries, but will also help to attract Israeli investments to Ukrainian projects.

A joint economic forum is planned for October this year, which will be an important step on the path of bringing Ukrainian and Israeli business closer together. The event will take place in Lvov under the patronage of the Ukrainian foreign ministry. The forum will provide the opportunity to find partners or investors, inform Israelis about Ukraine and its specific nature, and give Israeli investors the chance to find out for themselves that Western Ukraine is an economically attractive and safe region for capital investments.

At the end of the meeting, the politicians discussed the issue of safety in cities. According to Pavel Klimkin, the Ukrainian authorities are interested in borrowing Israeli experience in creating security systems. Lviv will perhaps be the first Ukrainian city where a pilot project of this unique system will be realized.
