The Israeli foreign ministry has confirmed that an Israeli citizen was on the Airbus A320 of the Lufthansa's Germanwings budget airline that crashed in a remote area of the French Alps on Tuesday.
Eyal Baum, a 39-year-old businessman from Hod HaSharon, was living in Germany and flying back from Barcelona to Duesseldorf when the plane crashed near a ski resort, killing all 150 people on board.
The airline believed there were 67 Germans on the flight. Spain said 45 passengers had Spanish names.
Also among the victims were 16 children and two teachers from the Joseph-Koenig-Gymnasium high school in the town of Haltern am See in northwest Germany, a spokeswoman said.
