                  Hannukah menorahs lit in Jewish homes in Warsaw

                  In pre-war houses in Warsaw connected with the history of the Jewish community, candles were lit every evening throughout Hannukah
                  This is designed to remind residents of the Polish capital about the places where Jews lived, worked and spent their leisure time.
                  The project of the Israeli architecture studio Talmon Biran is being carried out by the Jewish religious community togethe with the Center of Jewish Society in Warsaw, the Keret House and the Polish Institute in Tel-Aviv.
                  According to information on the portal “Virtual Shtetl”, candles are lit every day for eight days in one eight buildings at the following addresses:
                  • 9 Próżna Street – a former residential building, now Strefa Restaurant,
                  • 28 Jagiellońska Street – a private apartment adjoining the former Michał Bergson Israel Orphanage (now Baj Theatre),
                  • 11 Ząbkowska Street – a former residential building, now the Łysy Pingwin pub,
                  • 6 Jaktorowska Street – a former Orphanage founded by Janusz Korczak and Stefania Wilczyńska, now Janusz Korczak Children’s Home No 2 and the Korczakianum Centre for Documentation and Research,
                  • Junction of Żelazna and Grzybowska Streets – the former “Duschik and Szolce” Factory and a gate to the Ghetto,
                  • 41, 43, 45 Sienna Street – former residential buildings, now the headquarters of the Fabryka Muzyki Foundation,
                  • 31 Kłopotowskiego Street – a former ritual bath, now Jacek Kuroń High School,
                  • 9a Chmielna Street – the JCC Warsaw, next to 9 Chmielna Street where the “Jardin d’Hiver” Theater featuring Yiddish dramas was located.
                  • The Hannukah candles will be arranged so that all the residents of Warsaw who pass by will see them.
