‘’I am shocked by the decision of the European Court of Justice to remove Hamas from the EU-terror list for procedural errors,’’ said German Liberal Member of the European Parliament Michael Theurer.
"I do not believe in the procedurals errors being the real reason to remove Hamas from the terror list. The claimed procedural errors have been there for a long time, alas the decision came now.,’’ he said.
He added:‘’It is not so long ago that Hamas has fired rockets at the state of Israel on a daily basis from the Gaza strip and it was only in 2012 that Hamas bombed on bus on European soil in Burgas, Bulgaria,’’ asking: ‘’How much more proof does the EJC need?’’
‘’Now of all times, in which the interior situation of Israeli politics may be turning to the better, with the chance of a center-left government under the leadership of Labour MK Isaac Herzog, re-initiating the peace talks with the PA. A premature recognition of a Palestinian State, before a negotiated peace deal and the removal of the Hamas from the EU-terror list are sending the wrong signals to Jerusalem from Strasbourg and Brussels.’’
For Theurer, ‘’an organisation, which has pledged the destruction of the Jewish State, needs to be forbidden. If there were any procedural mistakes, they need to be corrected without taking Hamas off the terror list and sending such dangerous political messages to the Middle East.’’
‘’The Taliban, IS, Boko Haram and Hamas prove their destructive capabilities on a daily basis, if in Europe, Syria, Nigeria or Pakistan. Only by fighting these radicals with all possible measures, can we help especially help the Muslim communities around the world, who are suffering the most from these terrorists,’’ he concluded.
