Young anti-Semites threaten Jewish children on school bus in Sydney
06.08.2014, Anti-Semitism Jewish schools in Australia are on high alert after eight drunken young anti-Semites stormed a school bus in Sydney on Wednesday and threatened to cut Jewish children’s throats.
The men allegedly boarded the bus which was carrying children from Mount Sinai, Moriah and Emanuel kindergarten in Bondi.
One witness said: “They were screaming ‘Heil Hitler’, ‘kill the Jews’, ‘Palestine must kill you Jews’, ‘we’re going to cut your throats and slice your throats open’ — just all very bad anti-Semitic stuff.
The person said her three daughters aged eight, 10 and 12 on the bus were traumatised.
According to the Australian Jewish News, one of the students said they asked the bus driver to kick the teenagers off the bus. “They were being anti-Semitic and staying things about Hitler and nasty stuff about the Jews,” a student said.
“The kids were all crying. They were all traumatised. There were tears flying and everyone was crying,” the mother said.
Police were contacted and have launched an investigation in conjunction with the State Transit Authority (STA), who runs the bus route.
The Jewish schools involved has decided to increase supervision on busses.
Jewish Board of Deputies president Yair Miller said this is an extremely traumatising and unfortunate incident for the children involved. “All indication is that this was a random incident and the authorities are dealing with it at the moment,” Miller said. “We are awaiting for more information before making a further comment.”
