The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) expressed solidarity with the government and people of Israel as hundreds of rockets are being launched from Gaza and threatening millions of civilians.
Barry Curtiss-Lusher, ADL National Chair and Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director, issued the following statement on Tuesday : ‘’Tonight millions of Israelis – from the south to the north - are spending the night in bomb shelters and safe rooms as hundreds of rockets from Gaza are directly targeting Israeli civilians. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.’’
‘’We express our full solidarity with the government and State of Israel as they are forced to respond to this accelerating threat.Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his cabinet have made every effort to exercise restraint. In response, Hamas has deliberately sought to escalate and provoke, putting more than three million Israelis -- Jews and Arabs alike -- in direct danger of rocket fire,’’ the statement added.
ADL called on the international community ‘’to show its solidarity as Israel is under attack’’ and deplored that ‘’too often, we hear diplomats call for restraint on all sides. Such messages are inaccurate and hypocritical. The only message is that Hamas and its affiliates must stop the rocket attacks, period.’’
''The developments of recent days have made absolutely clear the absurdity of the international community’s embrace and support of the unity agreement between the Palestinian Authority and Hamas. The time is now for the United States and other countries to pull their support of that agreement,'' the New York-based group said.
