About 200 people gathered Thursday evening in front of the Israeli embassy in Brussels to hold a silent vigil in memory of the three young Israelis kidnapped and killed by Hamas terrorists.
Candles were lit, Rabbi Samuel Pinson recited the Kaddish and a minute of silence was observed.
Maurice Sosnowski, President of CCOJB, the umbrella representative group of Belgian Jewish organizations, which called for the gathering, handed Israel’s ambassador to Belgium,Jacques Revah, a letter of condolence for the families of Naftali Frenkel, Gilad Shaar and Yifrach Eyal, the three murdered teenagers, and to the entire Israeli people.
The letter reads: ‘’ With you, we mourn the children of an entire people, our children. As Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said 'the evil murderers with unspeakable cruelty and without batting an eye, violated the ancient decree: Do not lay a hand on the boy.' Faithful to the universal values of Judaism, the CCOJB condemns all murders of children, of all children. As you all, we hope that one day finally peace will come in the region and that we will never more have to cry innocent youths sacrificed on the altar of hatred.''
Similar gatherings were held in London and Paris.
