Israeli media reported on Thursday that there was a further deterioration to the health of former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. Sharon's health has been life threatening for the past week. He has been in a coma after suffering from a stroke over eight years ago.
Photographers were told to rush to Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer where Sharon was being treated.
The hospital defined Sharon's condition as critical on Thursday.
Sharon's life had been hanging in the balance since January 1 when the hospital treating him announced the former premier's condition had seriously deteriorated.
He was announced to have been in critical condition the next day as plans for a state funeral began to be discussed behind the scenes.
On Friday, Prof. Ze’ev Rotstein, head of Sheba Medical Center, said Sharon's condition had begun to slowly deteriorate as he was suffering from kidney failure and a blood infection.
On Monday morning, Sharon’s heartbeat and blood pressure stabilized, but his condition remained grave.
