European Jewish group slams Norwegian call to ban non-medical circumcision

                  13.11.2013, Jews and Society

Norway's Children Ombudswoman Anne Lindboe's call to ban non-medical circumcision of minors in her country, as it is a violation of human rights, ‘’is charlatan and is not supported by any scientific facts,’’ said Rabbi Menachem Margolin, Director General of the European Jewish Association (EJA).
"Modern medicines, including non- Jewish international health organizations overwhelmingly advocate circumcision and its contribution to preventing diseases. For three thousand years, Jews are being circumcised and grow up without any traumas. Therefore it is clear that this proposed ban is nothing more then Jewish exclusion, desguised as protection of human tights," said Rabbi Margolin.
He said that Children Ombudswoman Anne Lindboe is "at best misinformed of the facts", but he is worried ‘’that it is part of an upsurge of attacks made by alleged liberals toward anyone who thinks differently.’’
The rabbi said that only 7 circumcisions are performed in Norway each year. ‘’The fact that Ombudswoman Lindboe chooses to occupy herself so eagerly in the matter, raises the fear that we are yet again witnessing anti-Semitism disguised as protection of human rights,’’ he said.
