Anti-Semitism often lies behind anti-Israel feelings, says American Jewish director Woody Allen.
In an interview with Israel’s Channel 2 while promoting his latest film Blue Jasmine in France, he said that political criticism of Israel can conceal a deeper hatred - that of the Jewish people.
Asked whether it’s difficult to be a Jew in America today, he replied : “No, I don’t think so. By the low standards of tolerance for Jews all over the world, America’s been a very tolerant country.”
                  But he added:
“I do feel there are many people that disguise their negative feelings toward Jews, disguise it as anti-Israel criticism, political criticism, when in fact what they really mean is that they don’t like Jews.”
