Five Hamas Parliament members in Gaza have been denied a visa to enter Belgium where they were due to attend an action in favor of Palestinian prisoners detained in Israel, Belgian daily Le Soir reported.
The Belgian foreign ministry justified the refusal to grant the visa by the fact that the five MPs have passports which have not been issued by the Palestinian Authority but rather by Hamas in Gaza.
“Moreover, the five men are all members of Hamas, a group still considered as a terror organization by the European Union,” the foreign ministry said.
