The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has expressed dismay that United Nations officials, including Robert Serry, the U.N. Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, attended the "one-sided" International Conference for the Defense of Jerusalem which took place in Doha that included discussion of an Arab "rescue" from alleged Israeli plans to "Judaize" the city.
The conference was called by the Arab League and hosted by Qatar.
"We are extremely troubled by the U.N.’s participation in a conference whose goal was not to discuss ways to promote peace and reconciliation between Israel and the Palestinians, or to brainstorm solutions for the future of the Jerusalem," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director, in a statement.
In a letter to U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, ADL said that it was disturbed by his decision to convey a message to the conference.
"The U.N.’s participation in such a blatantly one-sided conference severely undermines its role in the Quartet’s Israeli-Palestinian negotiations," Foxman said.
