"Shnekel" with Yona Became Champion
27.01.2012, Israel Israel 2 shekel coin of 2010 with Yona in a fish received grand prix in Krause Publications international numismatic competition.
2800 such coins have been issued, each weighing 28,8 g of silver 925. Its designers are Gidon Kaich and Aaron Shebo; the coin is a part of a series based on TaNaCh stories.
Shnekel has defeated 94 coins and also received an award in “Best artistic decision” category.
The winner in gold is 100 British pounds dedicated to London Olympic games, and the winner in silver is Vienna mint 10 Euro with “Erzberg silver mountain”.
The award ceremony will take place in Berlin on February 4 during the annual “International money exhibition”.
