American Jewish umbrella group welcomes U.S. removal of Bin Laden
03.05.2011, Israel and the World The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations welcomed the announcement by President Obama of the removal of master terrorist Osama bin Laden.
Chairman Alan Solow and Executive Vice Chairman Malcolm Hoenlein said in statement on Monday:"We warmly welcome and appreciate the announcement by President Obama that Osama bin Laden, who was responsible for the deaths of many innocent people, including thousands at the World Trade Center, is dead."
"We congratulate the intelligence, security and military personnel who carried out this action and those who have sought him over the years, under the leadership of both Presidents Bush and Obama."
As the leader of the terrorist al-Qaeda organization, Bin Laden brought a reign of terror. His removal is a blow to global terrorism and hopefully will bring about the weakening and ultimately the dissolution of al-Qaeda."
The Conference recalled that Bin Laden threatened the Jewish people and pledged to destroy Israel.
"The announcement of his elimination coincided with the commemoration of Holocaust Memorial Day and is a reminder that those who perpetrate evil will ultimately be held to account. Despite this development, the war on terror must remain a top priority," said Solow and Hoenlein.
