High Ratings for S. Petersburg Jewish School
01.04.2011, Community Life The Education Committee of St. Petersburg has officially published the rating of the various schools in Russia’s northern capital, all of which were evaluated on the basis of the final marks received by high school graduates this year on the Unified State Exam (USE).
The Jewish Menachem Kindergarten and Day School was ranked in 15th place out of the city’s 771 schools, showing an unexpectedly high result. “We worked hard, but we honestly were not expecting to receive such a result. The results are absolutely objective – the testing took place in an environment of secrecy, almost like an object of strategic importance,” stated Marina Belitskaya, the head teacher at the Jewish school.
“The secret of our success is rather simple: the main thing is to create conditions for children to receive high-quality instruction when it comes to the basic program. This is something that is made a priority at our school. In addition, we study a lot and are focused on preparing students for the USE. In this regard, our school runs a special program that is supported by the Avichai Foundation,” commented Valery Stolov, the school’s principal.
The Menachem Kindergarten and Day School is part of the Ohr Avner Chabad educational network, the largest Jewish educational network operating in the former Soviet Union, which is organized by the Ohr Avner Foundation and supported by internationally renowned philanthropist Lev Leviev.
