                  10.03.2011, Community Life

The Riga Jewish Community House hosted a benefit concert featuring the Eilat Modern Dance Ensemble as well as young talented singers Anna and Diana Judelson, and Daniil Kuzmin and Stephanie.
The concert was organized specifically to assist the community’s program for children from families with financial difficulties. In the five years since its establishment, the Riga Jewish community, with the support of the JDC Distribution Committee, has helped 250 indigent children.
This is the first time that community members have organized a charity concert, the fees from which will go toward helping the children. Over 200 people participated in the concert, both adults and children. The funds raised through this program will allow more children to eat hot, nutritious meals at school, as well as purchase basic items such as clothes and school supplies.
The Chairman of the Council of Jewish Communities of Latvia, Arkady Sukharenko, thanked the participants of this charity event for their support and emphasized that it is especially when everyone makes a contribution that a Jewish community can exist and thrive.
