A new section of the Jewish cemetery was opened in the town of Malakhovka, located not far from Moscow. The new plot was purchased by the Chevra Kadisha Burial Society on behalf of the local Jewish community.
Despite the bitter cold, a special prayer was organized on this occasion, which was led by one of the leaders of the Israeli branch of ZAKA Rescue Service and the Chevra Kadisha Burial Society, Rabbi Yaakov Rozhe.
In recent years, Moscow has felt a pronounced problem with respect to the shortage of places for burying Jews according to Jewish law. It was often the case that Jewish families have had to bury the dead in cemeteries that are far away.
Chief Rabbi of Malakhovka Moshe Tamarin, who is also a Chabad-Lubavitch emissary serving in the region, has put great effort into resolving this problem. Thanks to his work, members of the Moscow Jewish community will be able to pay their respects more easily to their friends and relatives who are buried in the cemetery.
