The founder of Christians For Israel, a Dutch organisation whose only aim is to support Israel, received in Jerusalem a prestigious award from the World Jewish Congress and the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus.
At a ceremony, Karel van Oordt, 82, received the award from former minister Benny Elon in presence of members of the Knesset, Israel’s parliament. He was rewarded for his ongoing support, especially in difficult times, "when most of the gentiles didn’t support Israel anymore."
He also met with Knesset Chairman Reuven Rivlin, who expressed his "appreciation for all the work Christians For Israel has done in the past, is doing in the present, and will do in the future."
Karel van Oordt was accompanied by a delegation from Holland including the country’s Chief Rabbi Binyomin Jacobs.
One of the many projects which was initiated by Christians For Israel is the restoration of the windmill of Montefiore in Jerusalem as a symbol of unity between Holland and Israel.
