Seminar on Jewish Heritage
10.01.2011, Community Life The first regional seminar on preservation of Jewish heritage will be organized by Lo Tishkah Belgian foundation and Jewish heritage center of the Association of Jewish Organisations and Communities (Vaad) of Ukraine in cooperation with “Sefer” center (Russia) and “Genesis” philanthropy (Russia) on January 7- 9 at a suburban hotel.
Its purpose is stimulation of students’ initiatives on Jewish material heritage and help in fundraising.
The series of three seminars will include lectures, field work, development and correction of own projects, their pilot tests and analysis of the results.
The lectures will be given by participants of “Sefer” center programs - experts on Jewish Studies from the National library and academy of science of Ukraine.
Filipp Carmel, the head of Lo Tishkah, will give a lecture during the first seminar titled “Preservation of Jewish heritage- global thinking, local action”. There will be lectures about Jews in Zaporozhje Sich and ethnography expeditions of Semen Akimovich Ansky.
