Israel has sent 200,000 doses of medication against cholera to Haiti and will set up a permanent trauma and emergency center there.
IsraAID - the Israel Aid Agency sent an entire field hospital and medical personnel to Haiti in the immediate aftermath of January's devastating earthquake, which left more than 100,000 dead and hundreds of thousands injured. Israeli police also joined the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti, to keep order in the area.
The trauma center will be set up in Haiti's second largest city, Cap-Haïtien, with more than 1 million residents.
The center is a pilot project, according to Ynet, which reported that there is currently no infrastructure for trauma victims in the area.
Meanwhile, IsraAID's medical clinic in Leoganne, Haiti has been declared a cholera treatment facility by the United Nations.
The clinic, which is fully funded by the UJA Federation of Greater Toronto, has been operating a family clinic treating hundreds of earthquake affected population in the region of Leoganne since early September, according to Israel's foreign ministry.
More than 1,250 Haitians infected with cholera have died since October.
