Inter-faith meeting in Seville of young Jewish, Christian and Muslim leaders
18.10.2010, Jews and Society Young professionals of the three monotheistic religions gather this week in Seville, Spain, for an inter-religious dialogue conference.
They will seek to establish a common platform, discuss concrete projects and forms of cooperation between faith-based organizations, and develop best practices in the field of inter-religious dialogue.
The forum is organized by the “Fundación Tres Culturas del Meditarraneo” (ThreeCultures Foundation of the Mediterranean; www. www.tresculturas.org), and partner organizations including the World Jewish Diplomatic Corps, an affiliate of the World Jewish Congress which engages emerging leaders in their late 20s to early 40s in practical diplomatic advocacy to address the needs of global Jewry.
The conference, on 19 and 20 October, will also serve as a way of improving and developing frameworks for monitoring and preventing anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, racism, xenophobia and other forms of intolerance.
About 60 young leaders aged between 26 and 40 representing Jewish, Christianand Muslim organizations or communities will take part in the forum.
The participants will discuss the functions, rights and responsibilities of religious bodies in a society where religion is often perceived as the embodiment of fundamentalism.
