Three wonderful days of Holiday
14.10.2010, Community Life Recently, the weather was bad - it was either the wind or rain. Therefore, the main question we all had in mind was, "When will the sun come out?" But, I think, our children, who have fun even in severe frost of below zero 40 degrees Centigrade, would not be sad in any weather conditions. And yet, someone out there in the heavenly chancery heard our prayers, and for the whole three days that we spent in the Resort "Builder", the abundant sun was smoking the white representatives of the camp.
The Irtysh River was quite cold, but the kids did not notice it. The contest for the best splashes created such a hubbub that it has attracted the attention of other guests - only we can have such fun! Occasionally the kids ran out of the water to the shore to dive in a dry towel, knock their teeth and go back to the river again. Mothers caught their children out of the water, got out of the sand, where they managed to dig themselves up to their necks. The beach is located in a valley and three times a day, we all went down to the river and climbed back to the building of the resort. Even the most "athletic" mothers had a hard time, especially on the way home.
Do you think this was all we were doing there? Wrong guess! How many interesting things we have done - have mastered drawing, sculpting and origami, created exciting works of art made of multi-colored clay of remarkably bright colors. Even mothers could not resist it, because in their childhood they did not have such miraculous materials. It is autumn now. And of course we have chosen the story of Rosh Hashanah to reflect it in our works of art. We have sculptured a festively laid New Year table with all the traditional dishes on it and guests sitting around the table. It looked great!
And on Friday we lit Shabbat candles before dinner and read a prayer. It was interesting to watch the kids because some of them participated for the first time in this sacred ritual. These three days were so full of events that there was a feeling that we did not have enough time. But, surprisingly, the time adjusted to us.
I will not describe our forest walks and a farewell disco. All of these things, of course, left a vivid impression in children and adults. I just want to say, we are deeply grateful to Hesed and the JDC for the opportunity to relax in the Resort "Builder." Thank you!
