Chief Rabbi of Kfar Chabad Visits Dnepropetrovsk
20.07.2010, Community Life Rabbi Mordechai Shmuel Ashkenazi, the Chief Rabbi of Kfar Chabad, Israel, was a guest in Dnepropetrovsk recently. For many years already, Rabbi Ashkenazi has been helping the Jewish community of Dnepropetrovsk, advising the Jewish community on various issues pertaining to Jewish life and law.
During his visit, Rabbi Ashkenazi toured many of the Jewish community’s institutions and became better acquainted with their work. The rabbi was impressed with the development of Jewish communal life in Dnepropetrovsk.
Accompanied by Chief Rabbi of Dnepropetrovsk Shmuel Kaminetsky and the Head of the Kashrut Department Rabbi Elisha Baram, Rabbi Ashkenazi visited the site of the future Menorah Center, which will be the world's largest Jewish community center. Rabbi Ashkenazi inspected the progress being made on the construction work including the completion of the concrete-related work on the final and highest tower.
The three rabbis went up to the 18th floor of the corner towers and toured the premises, which will house the offices of the community leaders and the Chief Rabbi. Rabbi Ashkenazi admired the magnificent from this vantage point and heard detailed information on the progress of construction and the timing of its completion.
The Jewish community of Dnepropetrovsk is a leading member of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine.
