Saratov Rabbi comments Middle East situation: "All Jews are responsible for each other"
The Rabbi of the Saratov Jewish community, Michael Frumin, spread an address on the situation in the Middle East, in which he says:
"The IDF ground operation in Gaza has been in progress for several days already. Let the politicians and historians debate on the causes and consequences of the operation, but I would like to express condemnation of any violence, even more so when it takes a massive form. Unfortunately, the residents of southern Israel, Jews and Palestinians alike, have become hostages of a single handful of terrorists, whose actions have led to an escalation of the sensitive Arab-Israeli relations.
I wish this war to end successfully – meaning the eradication of violence and establishing a long-awaited peace. It is necessary to stop the bloodshed and suffering of innocent civilians on both sides.
What can we do to ensure that this war ends successfully?
I would like to remind you that wherever Jews may live, they are linked to each other by invisible threads: "All the Jews are responsible for each other." Our prayers, our solidarity, every good deed with the thoughts of our brothers who are in trouble – all this contributes to the improvement of the situation. If every Jew devotes a few minutes a day to prayer – this will in fact help Israel significantly.
It is necessary to add Psalms 121 and 142 of Tehilim to the usual prayers. It is best to say the prayers in a synagogue, but if not possible, you can do it in any convenient place: at home, at work, et cetera.
Even a very small positive deed, especially a prayer, increases the chance of changing the situation for the better."
