Kosher Milk for Dnepropetrovsk Jews
06.05.2010, Community Life The Kashrut Department of the Jewish community of Dnepropetrovsk has arranged for 500 liters of fresh, kosher milk to be brought to the city each week. Rabbi Elisha Baram is spear-heading this project. The milk is delivered to all of the Jewish children's schools and institutions, as well as the Beit Baruch Retirement Home. In addition, Jewish families are able to purchase milk for use at home.
Another customer for the milk is Roni Etinburg, owner of the Milk and Honey Kosher Café. “The whole milk is very high quality. We have been able to produce our own heavy cream, cottage cottage and cream cheese, as well as whey for use in okroshka soup,” the restaurateur explained. “Although we usually use 40 liters of milk each week, we have increased our order to 80 liters of milk for the upcoming holiday of Shavuot. We want to assure that there will be enough for everyone to enjoy delicious dairy meals.”
The demand for the milk exceeds the amount that is currently being produced. In addition, kosher consumers have also expressed their hope that in the near future more dairy products will be available including yogurt, cheese and ice cream.
