Biggest CIS Mezuza Written In Dnepropetrovsk
07.03.2010, Religion Chief soifer of the National sofrut center rabbi Reuven Margolin finished the biggest CIS mezuzah- 40 cm long which is twice the standard size.
It was ordered by chief rabbi of Derbent Ovadia Isakov and will be fixed to the main doors of Derbent synagogue which will be opened soon.
The difficulty of this order was connected with its size. We now have standard parchment size, mostly 48-50 cm wide. This mezuzah was cut from one parchment sheet, and it took unusual lining to follow all necessary laws.
Each mezuzah has 22 lines, each line has certain number of letters and words; the text can be written only in one direction, and the paint has a special formula.
The unique mezuzah also has a custom-made box and will soon be fixed to the main door of Derbent synagogue during a special ceremony.
