In the distant far east region of Russia, Jewish life continues in one small community in the Jewish Autonomous Republic. The “Shuvu” Jewish Community of Amurzet (Shuva means “return”) has, for the last three years, been led by its chairman, Faina Kravets. |

Israeli Minister Visits Zhitomir |

During the recent visit to Ukraine by Yossi Peled, a Minister without Portfolio in Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu’s government, he also visited the city of Zhitomir. During his trip, he toured the “Alyumim Children’s Educational Complex,” which is run by the Jewish community of Zhitomir and part of the Ohr Avner educational network. |

Tzitzit for Krivoy Rog |

The commandment of wearing Tzitzit (ritual fringes) attached to a four-cornered garment (Talit) is a Biblical command. The STARS program for young Jewish adults came up with an innovative and creative way to make sure the Beit Stern Shulman Synagogue in Krivoy Rog would have “kosher” Talitot with Tzitzit. |
